LOS CABALLOS LUNA ESPAÑA
SINCE 2012
Sanctuary for Horses in Need
OUR MISSION
In Spain, it is sadly an almost daily occurrence for horses to be abused, underfed and neglected. Horse in Need Spain is fighting to end this injustice. We provide these animals with a safe home, veterinary care and the love they so desperately need.

OUR APPROACH
Working together for a better future
Horse in Need Spain provides shelter for horses, donkeys and mules in urgent need of help at our sanctuary, Los Caballos Luna, in Spain.
For horses requiring intensive care, we operate a mini-clinic with modern facilities including a comprehensive pharmacy, mobile ultrasound and X-ray equipment, recovery boxes, indoor and outdoor stables, various paddocks and a spacious round pen.

Preventive rescues
Preventive rescues involve situations where Horse in Need Spain assists owners who can no longer afford their horse's care by immediately rehoming the animals with family, friends or neighbours. In extreme cases, we help cover costs for veterinary care, euthanasia, dental treatment or farrier services. This ensures horses receive necessary help before their situation deteriorates.

Education & Awareness
Alongside rescues, Horse in Need Spain actively informs and educates the Spanish community about proper horse care and welfare. While we're making gradual progress, this work remains essential.
Legislation and Regulations
Sadly, many horses face neglect, abuse and malnutrition. To improve this situation, we are committed to raising awareness about equine welfare among the Spanish communities.
By sharing information about horses' basic needs, signs of poor health and consequences of inadequate care, we hope to empower more people to recognise and assist horses in distress. Additionally, we advocate for stronger legislation to better protect horses from mistreatment.
